Fin Reviews

Ages ago, unless you rode a longboard or pop-out, fins were glassed on.

Early 90’s, and it all changed!

h2-in-action

Fin Control Systems suddenly arrived and surfers were given some extra choices. At first they were seen as a convenient tool for travellers.

However on further experimentation it was found you can fine tune boards by changing fin templates! For a surf geek like me, it was a dream come true!

I used to baffle my mates by running up the beach, disappear for 10 minutes, then paddle back out with a different set of fins on. I may have given up the best set, but I developed an understanding. They just thought my white ones didn’t match my board, so I changed to blue. Bless em!

They really are important, and they can change an average board into a magic one.

There are tons about now. However I’ll be concentrating on the big 3.

FCS, Futures and LokBox.  There is a new one too called F3, which I’m hoping to investigate further.

So these pages I’ll be checking out the above systems and their fins. Then I’ll be giving them my 2 cents worth….
